It is a horrible picture - our political leaders parliamentarians film stars other public figures and those who live in USA, UK, UAE - are struggling hard to to expres their ideas in English, which is a must in modern world. I am talking about the speed and pronounciation of spoken English, is that of even College professors and IAS officials, is utterly horibble. 99 % of them are speaking in Englsih as they are talking in Malayalam. My advice to them is to imitate the English News Readers of Other TV channels apart from from Malayalam channels. The way the good old Neethi Revindran, Rini Simon, Lathika Ratnam, the late Tejeswar Singh,Shashi Kumar etc...I am not an advocate of Americamn English or UK English. Both are difficult to imitate. Our American friends are un bearable !!! Sorry to say my friends.
Our Parliamentarians, except Shashi Tharoor and E.Ahamed (I have great respect for his speach
in English) are supposed to excell in the House with good English that too flawaless like Kapil Sibal, In m,y opinion ArunJaitely, Chidambaram, Advani, Kamal Nath, Jairam Remesh to name a few.. In my opinion our young MPs hould get good spoken english coaching from experts so that they can excell in the house.
Film stars....sorry noone to quote, except Vineeth, Rehman and Vijay Menon, are very poor.Look at Hindi stars Shah Rukh Khan, Amir, Abhishek, Rthik,Ranbir Vivek Oberoi....they are marvels in speech and that too in best English.
OK this is my view any takers ?!!!!
